This section on the Medicare Web site provides information about private and public programs that offer free or discounted medicines to Medicare beneficiaries through Medigap plans, Medicare Managed Plans, federal employee benefits, veterans benefits, and state-based programs as well as various other sources. Search the database by zip code or state/region, pharmaceutical company, and by health condition/disease.

Pfizer's drug prescription savings program/card for Medicare beneficiaries who have a gross income less than $18,000 per year ($24,000 per couple), who have no other drug prescription coverage, and are not eligible for Medicaid or any other state-funded drug benefit program. There is no enrollment or annual fees to join this program. Once enrolled, there is a flat fee of $15 for up to a 30-day supply of certain Pfizer medications.

Eight large pharmaceutical companies partnered together to provide a prescription savings program/card. Medicare beneficiaries with annual incomes of less than $28,000 for individual ($38,000 for couples) who do not have other private or public prescription drug coverage are eligible to enroll in this free program. (Income limits vary in Alaska and Hawaii.) This one card can be used for many medications manufactured by: Abbott Laboratories, AstraZeneca, Aventis, Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, GlaxoSmithKline, Janssen Pharmaceutica Products L.P, Novartis, and Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc..
